Center of Excellence in Community Based Research

St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities (SLEHC) increases opportunities for health enhancement and disease prevention, especially among the underserved, and makes possible measurable improvement in community health status and individual well-being. SLEHC's core values are consistent with its role as the area's largest faith-based charity. They are: The Whole Person: Body, Mind & Spirit; The Whole Community; Wellness. SLEHC's work in the community is consistent with its operating values of: Informed Action; Collaboration; and Empowerment.

The Center's Mission

The Center of Excellence serves the mission of the Charities through innovative research and community training.

The Center's Goals

Partner with public and private organizations to advance community health.
Train professional and community members in methods of community-based research.
Conduct community-based research

The Center's Objectives

Collaborate with organizations around similar missions and aligned goals and objectives.
Facilitate the transfer of local and academic knowledge through the Common Ground Academy (CGA).
Use evidence based theory to guide research practices.
Adhere to principles of community-based research in guiding the Center’s work.
Provide consulting services.
Manage external grants and contracts.
