Shalom Mobile Health Ministry

Description of the Organization
Shalom Mobile Health Ministry, Inc. is a faith-based 501c(3) nonprofit organization initiated by The United Methodist Church in 1997 to provide healthcare to the uninsured, underserved and undocumented. The main focus of the ministry is to provide primary healthcare for all members of the family, without a specific focus on any age group. The coach operates 12 months a year, Monday through Thursday, serving Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, Montgomery, and Fort Bend counties.

Shalom collaborates with The Methodist Hospital Laboratory Service, The Rose, MD Anderson Mobile Mammography, Healthcare for the Homeless, Vaccines for Children, Immunization Coalition, San Jose Clinic, and Habitat for Humanity to provide services to over 4,000 clients of all ages each year. Shalom Mobile Health is also a teaching facility for Texas Women's University.

Mission Statement
"Bringing Healthcare to the Underserved"

Shalom Mobile Health Ministry recognizes that good health improves the quality of life and thus seeks to bring healthcare to the underserved. Knowing that healthcare leads to stronger families, healthier employees and communities, and lower healthcare costs, Shalom Mobile Health Ministry is committed to:

  • Bringing accessible primary healthcare guided by the belief that all people are children of God.
  • Enlisting highly skilled, caring and committed professionals, congregational and community volunteers.
  • Endeavoring to work in partnership with other organizations to maximize resources.
  • Creating an environment that affirms and enriches the lives of the staff, volunteers and people we serve.
  • Funding the program through collective resources, i.e. churches, charitable foundations and other like-minded organizations.
