The Art and Science of Collaborative Leadership Conference
At a Glance

The May 12-13, 2011 Nonprofit Leadership Conference was kicked off by Charities Board Chair Bishop C. Andrew Doyle who provided an inspirational prayer and welcome.Charities Executive Director Patricia Gail Bray, PhD then provided the keynote address providing an overview of collaborative leadership and a relevant example of collaborative leadership. View Dr. Bray's notes recounting the collaborative history of the Amazing Grace.

Dr. Bray then introduced the Big Ideas/WOW Video that provided an excellent overview of one particular project showing the symbiotic relationship between grantmaking and research in transforming lives through measurable impacts in our underserved communities.

Dr. Bray then facilitated the Leadership Luminaries: Leadership Lessons from the Field panel that included real, in-depth questions and answers from proven healthcare leaders Dorothy Weston Gibbons, Sandra Martin and Mark Nichols.

Matagorda Episcopal health Outreach Program (MEHOP) Executive Director Celeste Harrison provided a lunchtime presentation illustrating the chemistry necessary for providing healthcare in  rural area. View Celeste's presentation.  

Director of Grants and Evaluation Celene Meyer was honored for her 25 years with the St. Luke's Episcopal Health System the evening of May 12. View the PowerPoint montage chronicling her history with the System and Charities.

Friday morning started with an upbeat presentation by Crystal Washington who provided real examples and tools useful for nonprofits seeking collaboration and fundraising. Through research-informed grantmaking to Texas nonprofits, St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities, a separate component of St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System, improves community health and reduces health disparities.  Our Center for Community-Based Research is dedicated to community-based participatory research practices that foster informed action, collaboration and empowerment for the medically underserved and other vulnerable populations.
