United Methodist-Episcopal Mental Health Initiative: Sunnyside Up!

The Charities' research team was awarded an additional $10,000 grant from The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church to supplement the ongoing research in Sunnyside. The purpose of this unique initiative is to build sustainable community-level improvement in the mental health of underserved minority children and families.

The initiative is a partnership between the Charities and the Houston Area Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The grant will produce to host a community- wide conference for ministers representing the 105 churches in the Sunnyside community. They will be trained on a first responders program entitled: Psychological First Aid:Field Operations Guide for Community Religious Professionals.

For more information about this initiative, please contact Community Research and Projects Manager Troy Bush at 832.355.4939.
