HOUSTON (March 7) – Karen J. Williams, PhD has been named Director of Research for St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities. Dr. Williams was previously Assistant Research Professor for University of Texas Medical Branch’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. In that role, Dr. Williams was a frequent community-based participatory research partner with the Charities. In addition, Dr. Williams was with the Charities from 1999-2003, serving first as Senior Research Associate and then as Assistant Research Director.
In her new role, Dr. Williams will have oversight of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) projects, including staff management and scheduling, budget planning and allocations, and research protocol and practice. She will also lead efforts in the further development of the Charities’ Center for Community Based Research, including its Academy, internships, fellowships, and endowed chair. She will work in conjunction with Dr. Linda Highfield, Director of Quantitative Research, to align project methods and protocols.
Dr. Williams received her PhD in Public Health, Management and Policy Sciences from The University of Texas School of Public Health.
