Partnerships

In partnership with The University of Texas School of Public Health, St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities has created the Community Health Information System (CHIS). The CHIS is on an online, interactive resource that allows users to create "landscapes" or "concise pictures" of the demographic, health and social data of the 57 Counties of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas from 1990 through 2000. The CHIS stores data on key social and health issues but also humanizes these issues with community profiles and case histories.

Early in 2000 the United Way and SLEHC began to discuss the possibility of bringing the Community Resource Database of the United Way, which contained information on over 5100 human service agencies, into SLEHC's online Community Health Information System (CHIS). The intent of the partnership is to provide users the opportunity to see a broader picture of community health status and to identify a selected area's assets as well as its needs.
